Sage 50 Accounting has stopped working

I upgraded to the 2018 Sage 50 accountants edition in October 2017 and the program was working fine. In January of 2018 I was prompted to do a regular update. Since then I have not been able to access the program and get the following message:

Sage 50 Accounting [0036-rel\2018.1] has stopped working.

I can still access the 2017 edition.

Has anyone encountered this before or have a recommendation of where to go from here?

Thank-you!

Did you disable Norton?  The Knowledgebase article 88134 has info on this issue.

I'm not running Norton but do have AVG administered through our IT Department. Could this be an issue? The upgrade did not effect anyone else in the office.

I don't know.  I only searched the Knowledgebase and looked at the first article I found.

What happened when you tried to reinstall without AVG active?

Did any of the other articles help?

Are all the other computers in the office identical?  If not, that could be a reason why only your's has problems.

Sometimes when people allow the install of the update from the message that comes up on closing and says Install Now or Install Later, they end up with an unusable program and the update needs to be reinstalled.

You can always close all the programs on your system, reboot your computer and go to

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\Sage Software\Simply Accounting\Download

and reinstall the update called SA_20181CPUP1.exe.

But I would disable AVG first.
