2019 versions

Question

I have a client who purchased the 2019.0 desktop version on CD as they just want to own the license outright. My Accountant edition has now updated to 2019.1 but client is being told they cannot update their copy at all without a subscription and so now cannot open the file I had worked on?? Another client with 2018 on CD was able to update to 18.3 without any trouble last fall by simply registering...this does not seem right.

Hi LMK CPA: 
 Unless some change has occurred as long as the product is purchased and registered with Sage you should be entitled to current updates. Whether you buy a CD version vs a downloaded version you should be able to download current updates. Normally that is included in your purchase price for a period of one year from the date of purchase. Unfortunately, I haven't experienced what you have with any of my clients. I might try to download the update after registering your product with Sage to see if it will install.
