SOLVED

I  have been using the CRA online payroll caculator for my 2020 payroll as I definately cannot trust Sage.  Can you please just make a one time brand new update for those of us who have not converted yet... and one that works for sure without having to move files etc?

PLEASE we pay a fortune for this program... please get a brand new update made that actually works

    Hello ,

Thanks for checking in. If you're still having issues converting your data after applying the hotfix announced Jan 3rd to your 2020.1 version (installed prior to Jan 6th) please make sure that the data is copied to somewhere on your C:\\ Drive before converting and or try a re-install of the software using KB100797

The downloads for the Full software version (see KB100797 ) and or just the update of 2020.1 (see kb102293 ) are now available. The downloads were updated on January 6 2020 and announced in this post. If you're still unable to convert, try Method 1 in KB 102392 (See 260-1009048 for French). If you're still not having any luck then please contact Sage 50 support at 1-888-522-2722.

Also note these data conversion tips if your data is shared on a network via a server:

    1. Ensure that you're logged onto Windows as a "Local Admin" or as a Domain Administrator.
    2. Copy the networked / shared sage file folder (which contains the .SAJ sub-folder and .SAI file) to your local desktop, rename the original file folder name (ex. Old company data).
    3. After conversion on the local drive (somewhere on your local C:// drive, as this location normally has full Windows permissions), copy back the updated Sage data file folder back to the original location on the server.
      • Check to ensure that there are no conflicts with the file names
    4. Delete the renamed old data folder on the server after testing that the company data opens in Sage 50 CA on a machine running the full version 2020.1 software.

    Hope this helps,

    Erzsi

Can you not just make a whole new version that works? I don't want to convert until I know there won't be an issue and I am still seeing lots of issues.... This should be simple....  I am very hesitant to update now .

What version are you currently using? Have you installed any updates?

  • 0 in reply to Erzsi_I

I am using sage premium 50  version 2020.0

I Just want to install a correct payroll update.. and I don't feel for the price I pay for this program, i should have to do a fix or move stuff... I should be able to just download the update and install.  Please let me know when you have an actual payroll update that installs as simple as that... other wise I will continue to go online and use Rev Canada Payroll caculator...

    Hi ,

If you are on version 2020.0 then this is what it looks like to install the downloaded the 2020.1 update (106 MB in size) from KB 102293.

The data conversion step afterwards, involves locating the company file to convert, see KB 10087 for full steps shown below. Below I'm converting a file formatted as 2020.0 to 2020.1.

As requested, when Sage can come up with a version that updates exactly like all previous updates I'll install it... but for now I am still seeing MESSAGES HERE with errors... so not this person... I'll wait till you once and for all get it right..... like you should have the first time.../ Please release a whole new version 2020.2 that includes the whole 2020 version along with the updated already in it. I appreciate your help but obviously, reading all posts on this site you still have not got it working 100 % yet.. and I cannot afford to not be able to work on my data...

    Angie

The file you are asking for is in KB100797.  I've used it on several computers and had no problems.

Don't forget, very few of the messages indicating problems with the install clearly indicate whether they were using the release that came out around Dec 16/19 or in January.  Because of this it's hard to tell if their problems are based on using the wrong update, not using the new update or some other reason.

Amen!  I am not installing anything until a completely fixed update is available.  Furthermore, in the future I will not install any new updates as soon as they are available as I cannot trust that they are bug free.  Lesson learned!

so  does KB100797 have the update in it as well as the full program. I see from above from ERZI , she said to use update 102293. So Richard are you saying if i download KB100797 it will be the full program with the Jan payroll update included?

    SUGGESTED

    Hi

Confirmed with Product Management today that the below KBs and downloads are the latest available.

There are no more updates coming out for 2020.1.

If you install the Full product download onto all machines, including a server, this will ensure that the Windows Firewall automatic configuration screen is available for use. Otherwise the firewall needs to be updated manually (see further below for steps).

    Download:

    Version 2020

100797 (FULL product download with Jan payroll update included*)

    102293 (2020.1 update only*)

Note also that the CRA released updated claim amounts late for us to include the changes in the 2020.1 release. So these will have to be updated manually for any database.

    Basic Claim amounts

    102358 (2020)
    94871
    (2019)

Setting Inbound Firewall Rules for MySQL on the File server, see KB 87721 for steps. For server-only installs (via an Advanced install option available in the download on KB 100797 ) the following rules need to be added to the Windows Firewall manually:

    • C:\Program Files (x86)\winsim\ConnectionManager\MySqlBinary\5.7.27\mysql\mysqld.exe
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\winsim\ConnectionManager\MySqlBinary\5.7.27\mysql\mysqladmin.exe
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\winsim\ConnectionManager\MySqlBinary\5.7.27\mysql\mysql.exe
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\winsim\ConnectionManager\MySqlBinary\5.7.27\mysql\mysqldump.exe

Version 2020.1 uses the new MySQL 5.7.27, also see KB 10080 for which processes and ports to allow through your firewall to ensure that Sage 50-Canadian Edition will operate correctly.

I'm pretty sure Erzsi said it in one of her posts above, I just told you to believe her..

The downloads for the Full software version (see KB100797 )

When you go to each article and hold you mouse over the download buttons, the filename displayed ends in

    1) 20201CP1

    or

    2) 20201CPUP1

    2020 = Year of release

1 = first release, usually Dec of the year before the year of release

    C = Canada

P in the first case = Program

PUP in the second case = Payroll Update Program

1 = It's always one because there is always just one file

Likely if you use the *CP1* file, and you already have 2020.0 installed it will ask you to remove it.  Do so, then run the installation program again and it will reinstall.

richard, my question if KB100797 if a full release... does it contain the January payroll update or will I have to also do the payroll update?

and question #2 I have 2020.0 already in use. Have you installed just the update without any problems?  Or do you think I should uninstall 2020.0 that I have and then just install the KB100797?

    Sorry Angie,

I thought I had already answered these.

    1) Yes the 2020.1 (SA_20201CP1.exe) file does include the payroll tables for January 2020, just like other PUP .1 releases in previous years that show up in Dec.  Generally you can assume any Jun or any Dec release will include any applicable changes to payroll tables.  They may not always affect us here in Ontario but may in some jurisdictions.  In past years, the Federal and some provincial governments have gotten crazy with making changes to things like TD1 exemptions rates in Apr or Oct of different years.  Any update Sage makes available during those time periods will likely include those updates but they will generally publish information in the Message Centre to let you know.

    2) I did explicitly address the install part of this in the last paragraph of my previous message.

For some clients I updated back in Oct and Nov to 2020.0, I installed the PUP update released Dec 16/19 just before Christmas.  I installed this for, I believe, three clients and none had any problems.

For the rest where I did the updates, they did not update in 2019, they updated to 2020.1 directly using the file in KB100797, again without any problems that I couldn't resolve without Tech Support.  This included a client running on MACs in Parallels Peer-to-Peer.  There were no problems converting files for any client so far.

Note: I just saw your later posts as I was typing this.  I decided to post the answer anyway in case others were interested in the answers.
