How to uninstall previous version of software

SOLVED

I have downloaded the full 2020.1 version and tried to install, but it says there is "another version of this product already installed." It says to go to remove programs and remove the existing version. When I do that there is no Sage or Simply software showing up in the add/remove programs list. How do I remove the old version to install the new one?

I am pretty sure 2020.1 is installed already, my company file is in limbo, I get the screen asking to back-up and convert to the newer version from 2020.0 but it just repeatedly loops around, not converting anything.

I thought it was safer to do a complete reinstall, but now I'm not so sure.

Help please,

Thea

    SUGGESTED

    Hi

Are you clicking the SA20201CP1..exe to start the installation?

if you dont see the reinstall/repair option when you clicking on it and can not remove it from program and features, you might have to clean registry

Knowledge-base Article 10407 can assist you clean it; make sure you read through all the steps and backup registry before you try, however, if you are not comfortable doing it, best call Sage support.

    hope this helps

Hi Jason, thanks for this. I'm glad I didn't have to follow those instructions. I actually managed to do a work-around suggested in another thread. As I had automatically upgraded to 2020.1 sometime over the holiday (unawares, so unsure which one I had) I was stuck in the upgrade company loop and couldn't advance. i was able to open the sample company (which converted) and then I was able to choose open company and download my company from the cloud. This one converted fine and is working properly.

    Cheers!
