What to do with 2020 upgrade

SUGGESTED

I am so confused as to what I have done and what to do next.

I downloaded an update today (Jan 9th).  But I got the cannot open company error.

I tried method 1 and 2 to fix it. But I still get the same error. I don't think the file ever converted.

What do I do next?

Hot fix?

Full download?

The 1-888 line is useless. My work and company is at a complete standstill.

    Hi

Thanks for reaching out. So far we've been asking users to:

    1. Check is whether the sample company opens and is successful through the conversion. The 2020 sample data is located at C:\Users\Public\Documents\Simply Accounting\2020\Samdata
      • Note that both data location and Windows permissions may be a factor. The Windows operating system is usually installed to the C:// drive, your data should also be located here for full permissions to take effect.
    2. If step 1 works out, your company data should also open. Alternate scenarios include:
      1.  If your company  file doesn't open, then you have a data issue.
      2. If your company data fails at the end of the conversion process, then you have a conversion issue for which it's best to try an alternate backup copy or call support for assistance at 1-888-522-2722.

    Hope this helps,
    Erzsi

regardless, calling support is useless they are not receiving any calls.

Although the demand for support is half of what it was last week, we're still currently seeing wait times of over 2 hours for L2 support today in the afternoon. I'd recommend calling in as early as possible. Call centers open at 6:00am PST.

Consider creating an online support ticket by going to: www.sagecity.com/resources selecting your product line and clicking on "submit online case" at that point you'll need a login for https://customers.sagenorthamerica.com/ for customers.

Looks like your email is your login (now unlocked)  for the Customer Portal . Creating a support ticket number will give you a number to enter in the phone system, as well as, a way to pre-fill details. See How do I create and view a Support Ticket via the Sage Customer Portal?

I am in a multiuser environment, so i need to have my files on the server. I cannot open the file after the update.

The sample works but not my 2 active files.

I copied the files to my computer, and i was able to open them there, but once i moved them back to the server, no go. And they were working fine before the update.

    Hi

Have you updated the connection manager on the server? Here's:

    EN

    FR

How to install the Sage 50 connection Manager on the Server?

    10101

    260-1002609

Basically, use the 2020.1 Full Sage 50 CA program download from KB 100797 and select to do an Advanced install (if you only need the connection manager on the server). Note that you can select to do a full install of the software which installs the full program / Sage 50 CA user interface on the server.

The Sage Connection Manager is an integral component of Sage 50 CA that manages connections to MySQL databases, Windows service, allows connections to databases on a server and enables 3rd party product connections.

Data Conversion tips for networked /shared data:

      1. Ensure that you're logged onto Windows as a "Local Admin" or as a Domain Administrator.
      2. Copy the networked / shared sage file folder (which contains the .SAJ       sub-folder and .SAI       file) to your local desktop, rename the original file folder name (ex. Old company data).
      3. After conversion on the local drive (somewhere on your local C:// drive, as this location normally has full Windows permissions), copy back the updated Sage data file folder back to the original location on the server.
        1. Check to ensure that there are no naming conflicts
      4. Delete the renamed old data folder on the server after testing that the company data opens in Sage 50 CA on a machine running the full version 2020.1 software.

Other things beyond the above to try include:

    • Setting Inbound Firewall Rules for MySQL on the File server, see KB 87721 for steps.
    • Version 2020.1 uses the new MySQL 5.7.27, also see KB 10080 for which processes and ports to allow through your firewall to ensure that Sage 50-Canadian Edition will operate correctly
      • Related to third party installations that may be blocking MySQL also review the steps on KB 86048

I did update the connection manager. Weird thing is that my employees who have not updated to 2020.1 are able to access, and I cannot.

I have been chatting with Denesh trying to figure this out, but no luck so far.

    Hi ,

Denesh tells me that our top IMPORTANT NOTE so far is to: Ensure that during Sage 50 software full version install that the option for Yes, I want my Windows Firewall automatically configured to work with Sage 50, is checked. Otherwise, see below for advanced steps and instructions.

If you're still having issues, some options to try include:

    • Re-installing Sage 50 CA version 2020 using the download in KB 100797 (see 260-1009020 for FR) released Jan 6, 2020
      • Need to re-install onto a clean system? Advanced Windows Registry clean up steps are available on KB 10407 (article 260-30260 in French)
    • Setting Inbound Firewall Rules for MySQL on the File server, see KB 87721 for steps.
      • found that for server-only installs the following rules need to be added to the Windows Firewall:
        • C:\Program Files (x86)\winsim\ConnectionManager\MySqlBinary\5.7.27\mysql\mysqld.exe
        • C:\Program Files (x86)\winsim\ConnectionManager\MySqlBinary\5.7.27\mysql\mysqladmin.exe
        • C:\Program Files (x86)\winsim\ConnectionManager\MySqlBinary\5.7.27\mysql\mysql.exe
        • C:\Program Files (x86)\winsim\ConnectionManager\MySqlBinary\5.7.27\mysql\mysqldump.exe
      • Version 2020.1 uses the new MySQL 5.7.27, also see KB 10080 for which processes and ports to allow through your firewall to ensure that Sage 50-Canadian Edition will operate correctly
