Hidden Recurring Entries Dialog?

SOLVED

I upgraded my bookkeeper from a Windows 7 to a Windows 10 machine (because Sage will soon stop supporting Windows 7).  We are on v2020.2 (we didn't have all the problems a lot of others had with that version update).

On the Win10 machine, when she tries to make a General Journal Entry, in that dialog when she presses the button to open "Recurring Entries", nothing happens, but then we get stuck as it behaves as if there was another dialog open on top of the current one.  I.e. the "Journal Entry" dialog is still open but buttons are disabled and you can't close that dialog any more.  I had to end the Sage tasks in Task Manager to close the program.

Doing the exact same actions on the Windows 7 machine results in a dialog opening with all the recurring transactions.  Everything is set up the same on the two computers, the only difference is the operating systems.

I don't see the usual evidence of a "hidden" dialog, e.g. don't see it in the Task Bar or in Task Manager, but it is behaving like the Recurring Entries dialog is on screen but it isn't.

Can somebody tell me what is wrong on this brand new Windows 10 machine?

Try this to see if you get things back again.

    Open the General Journal Menu.

Open the Recall Recurring Transaction Window.

At this point, you have indicated nothing is showing up.

Hit Alt-Spacebar and see if a menu shows up.

If so, Hit M for Move.

If the menu showed up at the top left part of the screen, then use the right arrow key to move the hidden window to the right and the down arrow to move it down.  When it comes back on screen, hit Enter to sop the movement.  You can now use the mouse to move it around again.

If this doesn't help, then you may be able to use the dbutil utility to fix the window positions.  Let us know if that is needed.

Thank you, I passed those instructions to my user and she said it worked.
