Starting a new year.

Question

This is the message I get . ---- "Either your Customers' historical information or the opening balance of account 1200 INVESTMENTS, or both, is incorrect." I used the G/L for this company for the 2019 year. Now when I want to start a new year I get that message. I think it may have something to do with the linking of accounts. I don't want to use any linking. Does anyone know how I can fix this message?

Based on your error message it would appear that account 1200 is linked in the Accounts Receivable Module. From the Home Window go to Setup/Settings/Receivables/Linked Accounts and be sure that there are no accounts listed. 
 If you are not using any linked accounts you will not be using Payables, Receivables, Payroll, or Inventory. In the General Module you must have a linked account for Retained Earnings. 
 Check Maintenance/Check Data Integrity. If the message at the bottom of the Window indicates Data is OK. Then you should be able to move to the new year.

In addition to what Alwyn has indicated, if you go to Setup, User Preferences, Options and uncheck any of the Modules (Pages) you do not wish to use, you should be able to transition to the new year if everything else is balanced.
