Version 2023.0 Password not working

SOLVED

Hello,

I upgraded to the Version 2023.0 version yesterday and any client I try and log into I am getting the message it is the incorrect password,  I know for a fact this is not the case.  System glitch?

I asked in chat and they advised to use the first 7 characters of your password only - it worked for me!!

A part of the What's New document indicates passwords have now been allowed to be 129 characters.  That doesn't mean your's was extended from the one you used in previous versions.

For as long as we can remember, Sage 50/Simply Accounting passwords were only ever a maximum of 7 characters.  Your old password was only ever that long regardless of what you thought it was.  When entering it, the program only accepted the first 7 and stopped.  Some people with speakers got a beep when they entered more but I was told by one seminar participant, they thought that meant they got it right.

If you wish to have a longer password, I haven't tested this yet but I am sure you can go to Setup, Change Password and change it to a longer one.  Make sure you enter it the same in both boxes and of course, don't forget it.  I would be a good idea to take a backup first.

Well I have no clue what you mean.  My password is 8 characters long.  I would enter it all and it would open.  This was a first for me.  Even if the sytem was only accepting the first 7 characters in previous versions, why was this not carried forward to this version?  Why create headaches for people and deny them access.

That being said....entering the first 7 characters worked.

It just means that when you set up a password in previous versions, you type in the password up to 7 characters and that is what the program understands.  You can keep typing on the keyboard all you want but the program does not accept the characters.

There are a lot of people out there with sysadmi as their sysadmin password and they think the password is sysadmin.
