Upgrading to 2023

We are looking to upgrade our 2022 files to 2023 prior to December 31st. This is our second year using Sage so we haven't gone through an upgrade yet.

If we upgrade the file to 2023, are we able to still process 2022 financial information and payroll?

Thanks,

    Short answer is Yes.

The year of the version of the program has nothing to do with the year's you may be doing data entry for.  I know of one company doing their books for fiscal year 2020 with the 2023 version of Sage 50.

The session date controls if the program will still do automatic payroll calculations in a given year.  I don't know why it is programmed this way but it is.  If you keep the session date in 2022 you will get automatic calculations if

    1) you have a current subscription that allows you to do the automatic calculations.

    2) they will be accurate if you have the proper update for the year's tax tables.

    3) you have not moved the session date to calendar year 2023 and moved it back again.

If you do move the session date to calendar year 2023 but still have to do payroll dated within calendar year 2022 then you will likely have to manually enter the deductions.  They will not be calculated for you but you can still enter the information and print a cheque, etc.
