Sage 50 CA Premium 2018 UPG

SOLVED

Hello Everyone,

I upgraded Sage 50 CA Premium 2018 from Sage 50 premium 2016 in 2018. The software was working fine till now. My computer broke in Feb and I bought a new one. I installed the version 2018 and restore it from the backup. It was working fine on my new computer till this weekend. I clicked on the new updates with restart option on the computer.  After the updates,  I tried to open the Sage and it didn't open and the start up window appear with option  to restore from the back up or existing company.  I tried to restore it from the back up again and its ask for the ID, Serial and activation key. when I entered this info error message came incorrect info. Now its not allowing me to open my company.

Can someone please help me with this issue.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi

Thanks for reaching out. Believe I found your account ending 400xxxx530 and set you up with access to the Customer Portal which gives you access to your product codes and the Knowledgebase for product self-help resources.

Also note that it's only been since Sage 50 CA version 2023 that the software's been optimized for Windows 11 (here's the version 2023 and 2022 system requirements).

You may have in that case run into an issue with insufficient admin rights after your Windows update. Please try the steps on the article titled "Error: "The program was unable to save the registration information." when activating Sage 50" below:

    Workaround 2:

    1. Exit out of Sage 50
    2. Right click on the Sage 50 Accounting shortcut on desktop
    3. Click Run as Administrator
    4. When Sage opens, try the activation again

    Followed by:

    Workaround 5:

    1. Check the Account ID by selecting Help, About Sage 50, Support Info
    2. Correct the Account ID by selecting Help, Update your Sage 50 product
    3. Enter the correct Account ID
    4. Click OK
    5. Close Sage 50 program
    6. Open Sage 50 program
    7. Select Help, Unlock auto-payroll
    8. Enter the payroll ID
    9. Click OK

    Hope this helps!

    Warm Regards,
    Erzsi

Thank you Erzsi for your help.

I tried opening as run as a administrator. There is no problem with sage software to open. When its ask to activate your product saying invalid info. Activation keys, serial number all is correct. Please advise if this issue can be solved or I have to buy a new one.

    Regards,

    Roma

Every once in a while there's an extra space in the entry, I would try copy pasting in the codes to be sure. The version year of the software installed has to match the version year of the codes input for activation to be successful.

Normally you can input the Company name, serial number and select "Retrieve my Key Code from Sage 50 online" if you have internet connection.

I tried entering the info by typing one by one letter and also copy and paste. I also tried retrieving the code from online and this the message I got from Sage.

If you're sure the version year matches the codes and account information, and you've run the software as admin and have given it permission in your firewall, then the last piece might just be Windows component incompatibility. See this blog on how to get Windows to trust Sage 50. The steps should still apply.

Again if you have Windows 11 then the 2018 version will have issues that we cannot address without an upgrade.

The screenshot below is how to verify the version year installed.

    Hello Erzsi,

I deleted the update I did on my computer and re-installed the sage 50 2018 again. Activation was successful. When I tried to restore it from the backup and receive this message now. Please advise what should I do.

If you go to Help > About Sage 50 you'll see the version year installed and update (Note that your account has both version 2018 and 2019 activation codes).

There are updates throughout the year which also need to be installed. For example Version 2018.0 was the starting version and 2018.4 was the last available update. We unfortunately no longer have these downloads... if you have access to the original computer with the install then you could get a copy of the installer files from the default location on the C drive  > Sage folder.

Visit the Customer Portal for a copy of your available codes for 2018 / 2019, you might as well install the most recent version of the software that you have a download for.

You can also look at this location on your computer

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\Sage Software\Simply Accounting\Download

Look for the file called SA_20184CPUP1.exe for the latest update for the 2018 version.  as Erzsi said, if you have access to the original computer's hard drive, it or a previous version like SA_20183... might still be on that computer.

It might have been downloaded since you reinstalled and opened the program.  These updates are not located in the c:\Sage folder.  Only the original installation of any given year is located in c:\Sage.

Thank you so much for helping me. Its works. I had sage 2018 & 2019 installer from the old computer. Earlier I was using the 2018 version codes. I didn't know that there is a 2019 version codes available under my account. When I installed 2019 version, the activation window shows up with serial number and the activation code and its works.

Now, I'm scare to update my computer in the future. What do you think it will happen again if I update my computer or ignore it if there is  any update comes.

Thank you Richard for your reply.

Erzsi mentioned that I have both 2018 & 2019 activation codes. I tried year 2019 version and its worked.

Glad you got it working.  Sage 50 2019 only goes to version 2019.4.  If that is the version you installed, you will no longer get any more updates.  The 2019 version of the program is long extinct like the dodo and dinosaurs.  It hasn't been on the support list since March 2020.  In fact, 2022 is no longer supported after tomorrow based on the last information I have.

    Its 2019.0 release installed.
