Payables 2023.2

SOLVED

Hi, I have installed the update for the Canadian edition Sage 50 2023.2 and now one of my files is not allowing me to enter any new payable clients. It just freezes when I enter them and then I have to cancel out and it won't save the data. I use the accountant's edition and am wondering if there is a limit to the number of payable clients one can have and if that is the problem, or if there is a glitch in the new program.

Thank you,

Tracy

Hi Tracy, if you are using the Accountant's Edition which version of Sage 50 is your file, Pro, Premium or Quantum? In all of these versions, I am not aware of there being a limit to the number of vendors (payables) but it is sufficiently large and it is working fine in 2023.2. If your question is more, how many clients can you have? Again, this is significantly large and not causing a concern that I am aware of. I have more than 70 client files but the most I have open at any one time is rarely more than two or three.

Hi, This file is a Premium file and oddly, I can create vendors in all of my client files except this one. Other users in this file can create vendors, but I can not. It has happened before with one of the other employees where she couldn't create projects, but I could so I would have to make them for her. It is really inconvenient though that I have to ask someone to create a vendor for me because we add at least 5 or more a week. Any idea how we can get around this? I should mention this particular file is a remote access file as well so it is shared online. I set the file up and "own" the file but share it with others.

    Thanks

The only suggestion that comes to mind quickly could be related to your access. Are all the correct boxes checked for the Security Access in the Setup of Users?

I am the administrator, own the file. Nothing has been unticked.... it's just not saving any new vendors.

Tracy, you have me baffled. I have not seen anything like this. You would be best to connect directly with Sage Support through the online chat within the program. Stick with it moving up the ladder until someone comes up with a solution.

OK thank you. I have seen it happen with this file before but it wasn't to me it happened and it eventually rectified itself, but only after an update. Hopefully this will rectify too, but it could be the file has been corrupted as it upgraded to 2023.2. I'll see what they have to say... after the long weekend. Friday before a long weekend doesn't usually generate a lot of support....

Thank you. I must admit, I was surprised to receive the call on the Friday afternoon before the long weekend. The technician got me all fixed up and working again. I was most grateful. Thanks for making this happen...

Hi Tracy To help settle my own curiosity and maybe to help others with a similar problem who may read this thread in the future, do you have any idea what the support team had to do to get you up and running again? Was there a setting that had been adjusted? did they have to log on to your computer and run some file?

Just wondering as I like to learn what might be a solution for the future.

He remoted in and for this situation he ended up taking my file off the Sage Drive so it was no longer shared. He tried a few things but when he removed the users and re-uploaded it to the drive and had me add the users back in again that seemed to fix the problem.

Thanks, Tracy, this may be a solution that others could try if they are experiencing a similar situation.
