Sage 50 2024 Upgrade

SOLVED

I upgraded to Sage 2024.  When I try to open, I get a message that the database files are read only and I need administrator rights.  I can however open in 2023 and it then asks me if I want to open in a later version, 2024, and the files will open.  Any way I can get it to open directly in 2024?

    Hi  ,

Thanks for reaching out regarding the issue you're experiencing after upgrading to Sage 2024. Based on your description, it sounds like there may be a compatibility issue with the database files.

    To address this:

    1. Ensure you've installed the newest release of Sage 2024. You can find the latest version on the Sage 50: Download Portal.
    2. Once updated, use the Sage 2024 program icon to open the database directly.
    3. If the issue persists, right-click on the .SAI file on your desktop and open it with Notepad temporarily. Check for references to the latest and correct version of Sage 50 you installed. If needed, consider restoring from a backup or contacting Sage 50 support for further assistance.
    4. Verify that you're not trying to access data stored in a cloud folder synced with platforms like Microsoft One Drive, Google Drive, etc. If so, move the data to a local or on-site network folder location.

If you're still facing challenges after these steps, there might be additional considerations or configurations to look into, so please let us know. We're here to help.

    Warm Regards,
    Erzsi

    Hi Erzsi,

It was actually much simpler than this.  I had to right click on the icon on my desktop and "run as administrator" and then go into compatibility and select run as administrator!
