SAGE 50 Canada shared data 2024 update

SUGGESTED

We recently switched to SAGE 50 Canada - shared, so everyone has remote data access.  There was an update to 2024.1 that the main user installed.  Then, as a remote user, I was unable to open the company, as my version was still 2023.

How should an update be installed so that all users can access the shared company?  As far as I know, the main user had logged on as sysadmin, single user.  Any advice would be appreciated.

    Hi  ,

Thanks for reaching out. It’s important that all users update to the new version to ensure consistent access to the shared company data. Here's how to manage the update process:

    1. Install Updates: All remote users need to manually download and install the 2024.1 update from the Sage 50: Download Portal . This ensures everyone is using the same version.

    2. Upgrade Company Data: When the main user installs a new update and upgrades the company file, remote users will also need to upgrade their local copies when they open the company for the first time with the new version.

    3. Remote Data Access (RDA): With RDA, each user should have their own local copy of the shared company data file to avoid conflicts. Ensure that each remote user downloads the updated company file after upgrading Sage 50 on their workstation.

    4. Server Use: If you’re using a server and prefer to have only one copy of the company file that all users access, you'll need to move away from RDA and set up a local area network (LAN) sharing instead.
