Multiple software upgrades

SUGGESTED

We have been using SAGE 50 for many years at my company, and we updated to cloud about 3-4 years ago.

On my work laptop I have Sage 50 2021 throught Sage 50 2024 (4 versions) installed.

I have just been updating with the suggested updates every year, and all my companies run with the latest updates.

Is there a reason I need to have the 4 versions installed?

When I run the update, does it just download a completely different version or it is a real update?

I don't want to mess anything up, but my laptop is running out of space.

Any advice appreciated.

    Hi  ,

Thanks for your question! Yes, you can safely uninstall older versions of Sage 50 after updating to a newer version. Your data, once upgraded, won't work with the older versions, so keeping them isn't necessary unless you have a specific need.

    To uninstall:

    • Right-click on Start > Apps and Features.
    • Find and select the Sage 50 version to uninstall and click Uninstall.

This will not impact your current Sage 50 installation or your upgraded data. It's a great way to free up space on your laptop.

For more detailed information, please refer to our help article: "Can I uninstall the previous version?"

If you have any further questions or need assistance with the process, don't hesitate to reach out.

    Warm Regards,
    Erzsi

If all of your companies run with the latest updates, then the only reason to keep the old versions around is to QUICKLY open prior year files and view history.

Please note the word QUICKLY.  If you really need to look at data that's in an old backup but no longer in your current data file, you always have the option of making a copy of the backup file and rolling it into the latest version.  Sage 50 2024 is able to open backups made with the 2021 version and roll them forward to the 2024 version in one step, which takes about the same time as the usual roll-forward-to-the-next version procedure.  The only advantage you get from keeping the old versions around is that that you can open old backups without waiting through that conversion time.
