Data version vs. program version: Battle of the Updates

SOLVED

I have seen that others have had the same problem I am having, but I don't see any resolutions.  Going to take a stab at this again.

I installed Sage 50 2013 Premium on my home laptop earlier this year so I could learn the program while learning my job (church treasurer) at the same time in the comfort of my La-Z-Boy. :)  Updates have been applied and I am now updated to release 2014.2.  During this time my files have been maintained on a USB stick.

The time has come to transfer everything to the church's computer.  Using the download information sent to us by Sage when we purchased the program, I installed 2013.  Some glitches happened, but I managed to get it to update to 2014.2.  So I know that I'm running the same versions on both computers.

The problem comes when I try to open the file on my USB stick on the church computer.  I receive the following: "data used in newer version of program, update to latest version of program before opening."

Following the advice given by Keith here, I have looked at the data version and it is 21201.  Obviously, that doesn't look anything like 2014.2, so I don't know why it's even opening on the laptop.

Insight and help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Cheryl S.

21201 means the data is in 2014 release 2.

Things that you may need to pay attention includes:

    1. Are the church company and your home laptop using the the Same Sage 50 Premium 2014 release 2 software.
    2. After you installed Sage 50 2014, you will see 2 identical icons.  One of them is Sage 50 2013 and the other one is the newly installed Sage 50 2014.  The only difference is that for Sage 50 2013, the name of the icon is Sage 50 <your edition> 2013.  For Sage 50 2014, the name of the icon is Sage 50 <your edition> (no year behind).  If you continue to click on the Sage 50 2013 icon, you will receive the message that you mentioned in your post

    Hope this helps.
