Will Sage 50 open a Peachtree file

SUGGESTED

I'm using Sage 50 Accountant's Version.  A new client gave me a disk from her previous bookkeeper.  She used Peachtree.  The file extension is.ptb.    I have tried opening Sage and restoring this file, but have errors. Can I open this file in Sage?

    Hi Peggy-Sue,

Sorry to inform you that you cannot use Sage 50 Canadian version to open a Sage 50 US version (formerly known as Peachtree) file as they are actually different software.

You will need to have Sage 50 US to open it.

If you would like to import the data (no transaction, only record) to Sage 50 Canadian version, please follow the KB link below and look at the import file format.

    Hi ,

Sage50 Canadian has import feature - accounts, customers, vendors List(s) which are required to be in specific format. When you click import/export from File (top-left corner, once you are in Sage50 program).

You can export lists from Peachtree and re-format per Sage50/Simply.

If you wanna import transactions, either you go thru development tool or 3rd party Sage Partners.

    Thanks,

    Hi Peggy-Sue,

Some transactions, such as general journal entries and purchase / sales invoices and orders, can be imported as well as lists of customers, accounts, inventory, vendors, and employees, if your client wants to switch to Sage 50 Canadian.

CaseWare will probably read the Peachtree data to get you what you need, failing that you'll need your client to get you a licensed copy of the software that you can work with, or just print / export all the reports for you for each year end.

I hope that helps, please post back.
