Implementation of Sage50CA

SOLVED

Hi there

We just bought Sage50 Quantum and unfortunately the IT service providers here are pretty useless. They are already 10 days over the deadline (was supposed to be done by Jan 1st) and we can't invoice and ship. I still don't have a response as to when it will be done and am starting to think I'll try it myself, it's so frustrating trying to deal with these guys.

Does anyone have any pointers on data upload? We are switching from Peachtree to Sage50 Quantum 2016.

Thanks a million - any advice appreciated!

what is the problem, installing Quantum or converting the company data from Peachtree to Quantum ?
is your Peachtree the US version of Sage ?

you can call sage support at 800 428 9974 for help

Thanks! Quantum is installed but we are now stuck getting the data transferred. It's Peachtree Accounting 2012 version - haven't been able to figure out if it is the US version. We need to upload some info from .xls and some from Peachtree which I understand we need to do via .xls also?
It shouldn't be too complicated, we just appear to have very bad IT companies around us here so I'm happy to give it a whirl myself

you can import gl accounts, suppliers, customers, employees, inventory and project master data objects

you can import journal entries, purchase invoices/quotes, sales invoices/orders and timeslip transactional data

using defined formats, you can open the sample company and export an object to see what the format is, or search the knowledge base to find articles like this

    support.na.sage.com/.../viewdocument.do

Sage also has an SDK (software developers kit) to do this but it is useful in repetitive daily activities

    KatjaBST,

I understand that both the Canadian and US versions of Sage 50 are used where you are. There are two methods to determine which version you are using. In a standard setup, the Canadian version will spell Paycheques Canadian where the US version will spell Paychecks American. Also in Help, About Sage 50, the appropriate flag will be displayed at the top.

If you are using the Canadian version, then these are the correct forums for you.

If you are using the US version, then Derek might be able to move this thread to the US forums.

If you are using the Canadian version, then if you search the help for Import Records, you will eventually find the import format for importing the Customer/Vendor names and addresses for the ledgers. The Chart of Accounts can be imported as well and the list of inventory items can be imported. Extended information cannot be imported with the user interface of the program, they will have to be entered manually (eg. the Additional Info fields). Because you are moving from Peachtree, there is no direct import possible as this is a completely different program from the old Simply Accounting (Sage 50 Canadian).

As Roger has suggested it is possible to import transactions as well but it is difficult to format properly at times. Most import formats are part of the free SDK that was mentioned. Make sure you get the correct one for the program you are using if you wish to go that route. However, most people will keep their old software available to look up old data and then move to the new software using just starting balances without entering any more history than the amounts still owing to and from vendors and customers, and the opening quantities and values of inventory. Because neither version of Sage 50 handles UAE payroll, I am assuming you are not on the update plan and will not be using payroll.

    Hope this helps

Export Lists from Peachtree in csv/excel format for chart of accounts, customers, vendors, inventory items
Import into Sage50 Canada using import function
For transactions like Open Sales Invoices, Vendor Invoices, Trial Balance you can use 3rd party software like swagman (swagsys.com) Thanks, Akhtar
