For Sage 50 Canadian there was an add-on called MISYS www.misysinc.com that had that feature. Misys could track a steak in Kenora back to a bag of barley seeded west of Grande Prairie.

Out-of-the-box, Sage 50 Quantum has serial number tracking, which can be made to sort of work if whole lots are used each time. But if you want to know which 500 water heaters had a sacrificial anode from two defective batches you would have to create and track 500 serial numbers for each of the the 500 anodes.

Sage 50 internally tracks costs of individual FIFO batches, but strictly for costing purposes.

A Sage partner may know more about any particular Sage product that would have this feature 'baked in'.
