Invoice inventory packing slips

I'm looking for information on where to enter product information that is required for TDG requirements.  The old Sage software I used allowed me to classify products that were a dangerous good, include text requirements and the weight by unit , under Product info (where I entered details of each product). Then when I generated a packing slip for each order /invoice the packing slip showed the total weight of any products that were coded as DANGEROUS GOODS. Finally, I would generate a report for delivery driver that totaled the weight of Dangerous Goods being delivered  (invoiced) that day.  Is Sage 50 premium Canadian  able to do this? Do I add additional information when I add a inventory product? Is there a way  of recording  product weights in inventory for invoices ? Is there a report specific to what I'm looking for besides invoices and packing slips that I should be using?

Any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

No, not really, not within the software as it comes 'out of the box'.  Sage 50 'Quantum' (formerly 'Enterprise) wouldn't, either.

If you can't buy the 'old Sage software' anymore, it may be possible to cobble some sort of cheap hack together, for example using some combination of:

    -  one of the 'Additional Info' fields to record the weight by unit like a 1960's era flat text file record,

     - one of the 'Webstore' extra information fields to record the text (if it fits into 256 characters), and / or

     - setting up the URL of the product information into the 'thumbnail' field

    and then:

Use Crystal Reports for invoicing, to read all the clues and assemble all the bits and pieces into a document that would pass muster.

Thank you for replying! My 'old Sage' was Sage EPR Accpac 100 Ver. 6.0 A. This program did use crystal reports. Do you think it's possible to use the crystal reports from that system with the new Sage 50 Premium Canadian Edition?

Yes, it's possible, but I can't say whether it would be practical.  By 'For Example' I did not mean that I had done this and it worked, I meant that it appears to be technically possible.

Sage took the direct Crystal Reports interface out of Sage 50 during 2014, but they did leave the .CSV files that are generated by the invoice printer for the old Crystal Reports interface.  So you need a third party software package to connect between Sage 50 and Crystal Reports.

And the Crystal Reports may be licensed only to your old Accpac 100, so you may need to buy licenses

And a lot of time, fiddling, programming, testing, and paper.

Altogether, since time really is money, it may be more expensive than the 'old' software.

The databases used to print the invoice forms for a packing slip in Sage 50 are completely different from your old system, so it would take a lot of work to manipulate the old report to match the newer database, if it could. In my experience, it would be best to completely redesign it (though some elements could be.

However, he is quite right, it will take some setup in the program to record weights per item, etc. You can use the Ledger Additional Info fields and possibly the Long Description field for the Dangerous Goods info if there is a lot of it per item.

Sage 50's internal form can print this information on it but cannot do any math. However, Crystal could be used to put the Dangerous goods info below the line item instead of as a column and set up the weight as a column that can be added.

There are a couple of ways to design the forms, but if you used default setup of Crystal templates and then use Crystal to do the printing, you would have to hit Print in Sage 50, then go to Crystal and Refresh the report to show the new data. I also have a viewer program that can be set up to automatically printing Crystal templates when you print in Sage 50. You can contact me off forum if you wish by clicking on my name and using my email address.

Thanks so much for help and assistance gesture! I'm thinking the work that'd be required for this is above my tech knowledge and experience . Perhaps it's best I rethink the necessity of this or see what other options are available to me.
This was 1st time I've posted a question and am so impressed and appreciative of people taking time from their busy schedules to help!!
