Yes, you can start the new year and still make entries into 2019. The date of the entry triggers which year it will be posted to. The important part is to make a back up before you process the change to the new year. AND very important - all of the entries for the payroll for 2019 must be made before the change in year. Once 2020 is open you will not be able to go back and make or change a Payroll entry for 2019.
