2023 Payroll to enter

The system is operating on the 2024 version, but I still have 2023 payroll to enter. I need to get these entries in, but it's now saying I need to enter them manually. How can I enter the 2023 payroll without entering it manually? Since I am new to payroll I am worried that if I enter it manually I will make errors which will effect the employees T4s. Please help. Thank you!

  • It sounds like the issue here is not that you are using the 2024 version but you have moved the session date to the new calendar year 2024.  Once you move the session date to the new calendar year for some reason, Sage has decided not to do automatic payroll calculations in 2023 (previous calendar year).  There should have been warnings to tell you to complete your calendar year payroll before moving to the new calendar year.

How can I enter the 2023 payroll without entering it manually?

I haven't tested this in years but I believe you are automatically put into manual mode when you select the 2023 date so just enter the proper amounts including any source deductions.  The company portions of each deduction should still be calculated (eg. EI and CPP).  You do have to manage the maximums manually I believe (eg. if CPP maximum has been reached, don't enter it).

Ok I just tested it.  And what I indicated above is correct.  Company portions of EI and CPP are calculated based on what you enter as the employee's deductions.

If you don't have a copy of the file still in 2023, then you can use the PDOC to do the calculations.  It may show slightly different numbers but overall, it should roughly the same.
