Vacation pay percentage changed to 0.0%

Hi,

I'm having an issue with one employee's vacation pay percentage.  I have all employees set up for 4.0%, but one appears to have gone to 0.0% on it's own. (I didn't change it and no one else has access to the file.)  When I enter 4.0 and hit save, before the window closes, it goes back to zero.  When I go back into the employee ledger to check it, it says 0.  This is only happening for one employee.  I don't have Retain Vacation checked.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

    Hi Yogamom 108,

Suggestion is that you can run dbutil on your data file first and then give another try.  You can follow the link below to run dbutil:

How to use Database Utilities (Sage_SA_dbutil.exe)? - http://bit.ly/1dAuFrI

If it does not work, please try to create a new employee in your data and see if you can duplicate the same issue.  If not, then this employee record can be corrupted.  Please create a new employee record and work on the new one.

Retain vacation box will not have any effect on the vacation percentage.  It only determines whether vacation will be paid on the paycheque the same time when it is issued (if unchecked) or it will be withheld and be paid later (if checked).

    Hope this helps

Thanks for your reply Keith.  I did the dbutil and it was still happening.  Next, I created a new employee record and that was fine.  But, I've noticed that the problem starts as soon as I adjust the 'Amount per Unit' on the Income Tab.  So, if the employee gets a raise, then the Vacation Rate goes to 0.

Am I the only one having this problem?  I only have one client that pays vacation pay, so I can't check it with my other payroll clients.

    Hi Yogamom 108,

Test with your sample company.  Pick one of the employees, change the amount per unit of the regular income and hit Save and Close to see if the vacation rate go to 0.  If you can duplicate the same issue to your sample company, uninstall and reinstall your Sage 50 or Simply Accounting.

You can find the sample company for Sage 50 2013 in the following locaiton:

    Vista/7/8: c:\users\public\public documents\simply accounitng\2013\samdata

    xp: c:\documents and settings\all users\shared documents\simply accounting\2013\samdata

if you are unable to duplicate the same issue in the sample, your data may have issue. If you are under current support plan, please give use a call by 1-888-522-2722 for further troubleshooting to see if data repair is needed.

If you are not under our support plan, you can also find help for data repair from our SAN member.  You can find one of them closet to your area by the link below:

Thanks again Keith.  I did as you suggested and tested the sample company.  It was fine.  No change to vacation pay percentage when I changed the Amount per Unit.

I'm using the Accountant Edition and I think that includes support, so I will give them a ring.

    Cheers!
