The tax summary is reporting all transactions between two dates. The account shows a balance which includes amounts outside of the reporting period and/or amounts entered to the accounts through the general journal without including the tax reporting. This is why many users do not use the tax reports, but we take our numbers to report directly from the Balance Sheet Accounts. This way we can be sure to pick up all the amounts to report including any adjustments made from prior periods.
