Year end adjustments but can't get into the correct date

Question

So I need to do an adjusting entry but when I log into the simply file I am forced to choose September 1, 2022. I do. I then click on PREVIOUS year and I see all the entries. I record the adjusting entry and record the date as August 31, 2022 because I need to have the entry recorded in the PREVIOUS year and then I get this error. 
 Any ideas?

Hi Olga, if your accountants have not closed the previous year yet, you just have to go into Set Up, Settings, Company, System and change the date so it allows you to post back into the previous year. If your accountants have closed the books for the previous year you will have to do it the current year you are working in otherwise you will change what the accountants balanced to.
