Error occurred while trying to start my new year

Hi There!

I am trying to start a new year but I keep getting an error message saying "While moving employees' year-to-date information to last year.  As a result, the new calendar year cannot start."  It goes on to tell me to go to maintenance and click on Advanced Database Check which I've done.  It tells me it cannot repair the issue and to call Sage 50.  I've never experienced this problem before.  Help!

Thanks so much!

    Hi,

This is a user forum, so you may still need to contact Sage support.

The usual things to try before doing that, are:
    - to restart the workstation,
    - restore your last backup to another location (make a new folder, or give the file a new name temporarily), try it again.
    - restore again, run the Advanced Database Check, look for the database log file to see if the error message is any help.
    - If the Advanced Database Check comes out 'clean', then try opening the new calendar year again.
    - Try ON A TEST COPY OF THE FILE, NOT YOUR 'WORK' COPY, use 'Clear Data' to purge prior years' payroll data and try starting the new calendar year.

    I hope that helps,

    Randy

    Hi

You can try follow knowledge base article 10234 see if it helps.

In the advance database check log Section II , check see if you have "# HISTORICAL DATA PROBLEM:" , if you do, check COMPANY.SAJ folder see if you have duplicate file inside (Saj, Simply and Msyql folders)  i.e. ibdata1 (joe's conflicted copy 2014-01-09) or simplygroupmembership (2).frm  (if you do create test copy, remove and try again)

If you still have troubling, then as Randy recommended best to find a backup that works or call Sage 50 CA Support line.

Then the last option, you can create a new file, export all the list from the old file, and import them to new and enter trial balance start fresh.

I should have mentioned that I did call Sage 50 and because we aren't signed up for support they couldn't connect me to a tech person. They recommend that I use this forum.
