Business Credit Card Cash Advances Journal Entry

SUGGESTED

Hello,

How do you record a credit card cash advance? I do have a Credit Card Liability account set up so what would be the offset of this transaction?

The confusing part is that it's an advance so that increases bank and increases the credit card payable but shouldn't an advance be an expense as well?

Any help on this is very much appreciated.

Based on what you have said, I would argue there is no expense yet because nothing has been purchased.

The money was deposited to the bank account, so technically it has not been spent yet.  The owner has just "taken the money in his/her wallet and put it in the left pocket" but still owes the money back to the wallet.

that increases bank and increases the credit card payable

This is the same thing as saying, Debit the bank, Credit the credit card liability.
