Yes.  I've mapped a network drive:

T:\BVarchives\JAL1011

I had named the sub folder   JAL-2011-2012 but got the same error, so I thought shortening the name might work.  Didn't though.

A copy of my current data in:   T:\BVarchives\JALTest                 works fine.

In the JAL1011 directory, do you have a file called ~PVSW.LOC or something to that effect.

If you do please delete that one particular file, and then try to add to BusinessVision please.

The path I quoted is wrong:    This is the path:   T:\BVarchives\JAL1011\JAL

The path looks fine to me, and it should work.

At our office we have the same, and bunch of sub-folders.

Quick workaround right now if you can, is to move the actual data files up one subfolder.

So it only goes " Drive | Folder | Folder | Data Files "

Thanks, that didn't work either.   Funny thing though.   Why would my current data open fine, and this older data not?   Same drive, similar folder, same Pervasive, etc.  ???

Off the top of my head Ican only think of that the files are maybe read-only, BVCON.FIL Corrupted (I don't think it is), possibly BV Pervasive and not understanding the full UNC path.

With the data you are trying to go back to, what would happen if you just copied it to your local computer?

That was the first thing I tried.  Copied it, set the pervasive gateway correctly and tried to open it.    Got the same error.

May I ask where did you copy the data files on your local computer?

Desktop? root drive?

Was there an error code that populated when it says not a control file?

I copied them into a folder where I also keep a copy of my current files - they work fine, but the older files don't work.   The only error code I get is the "The file selected is not a Sage....... Please select a valid Sage BusinessVision control file to proceed."

On the folder properties, is indexing service set on it?

These are all the ideas I can think of off the top of my head, I'd need to see it to go further.

Indexing -  BINGO !    That was the answer.   They open fine now - thank you.
