CLOTHING SIZE - COLOR IN ORDER ENTRY

We use BusinessVision for a lot of our orders, and we do  a LOT of clothing orders. So, I'm looking for a way to do a couple things:

  1. When entering line items in Order Entry, have a spot to type in the color name, as well as a quantity in several size columns - XS through 6XL, for example.
  2. Be able to export and import data using these columns (We have custom software to track orders through suppliers, and it would be very appreciated if we could export an order into the system)

Right now, we're simply typing the sizes into a comment line, and summing up the totals for that line's QTY manually. However, this is prone to mistakes. Plus, exporting it leaves all that in just one field, and that makes it more difficult to read into other software - we'd have to be guessing, essentially.

We're not even really looking for inventory management by size - almost all of our products we order as we need it, so we don't keep any form of inventory for about 99% of the line items going through our system.

Oh, and to be clear about one requirement - our sales people will still need to use businessvision to enter orders - so any solution that proposes an outside program to actually compile the orders isn't going to work, unfortunately.

I hope that makes sense! Anyone had any luck lately?

The only way you will be able to use extra columns in line-item OE is to use Custom Pack Workbook lines which will give you 50 fields of extra line item info. You can also export and search on these fields as well.

Its a good thing you do not need BV to manage inventory for colour-size-style because it cannot be done properly.

That looks like the ultimate solution based on what I see about it online (it is very hard to search for stuff for BusinessVision through google!), so I'll mark it as correct. Question though - how does this affect the inventory module? Do inventory items inherit these same properties?

The reason I ask, is there IS one thing we keep stock of - but the way we've been doing it is having a separate inventory item for each size and color (it's not horrible, because each item only has 2 colors and maybe 6 sizes, but it's not ideal).

I will mark your answer as the accepted answer after this question - it looks as if it closes the question when I click it!
