Migration tool from Sage 50 to Sage Accounting (standard package)

I work with a small charity, and they currently use Sage 50, 2018 version. I am recommending that we move to Sage Accounting (Standard package that allows for multiple users). I understand from going thru Sage university courses and various Sage migration webinars, that there is a migration tool that I can download to Sage 50, and it will help us migrate to the cloud.

When I called Sage sales (1-866-850-0687) this morning I was told that this migration tool is not available in the Standard package, and is only available in the Plus package, for $55/month. I asked for clarification and to show me where online it says this, and the sales rep was unable to provide the online documentation that states this.

Is this true? Is the migration tool only available to the Plus subscribers, and not available in the Standard package?  I am meeting with the board tonight, and this will inform the decisions they make.

    Thanks for reaching out. You're correct in understanding that the migration tool for transitioning from Sage 50 to Sage Business Cloud Accounting is not available in the Standard package. The tool is indeed a feature of the upgraded version, Sage Business Cloud Accounting Plus.

    Thanks, Erzsi, this is helpful to know in advance. Given that cost is an issue, and especially ongoing cost, is it possible to

    1) Sign up for for the plus account, under the charity rate through Sage Foundation, then

    2) Migrate from Sage 50 to the cloud, and then

    3) Downgrade to the Standard package with the Sage Foundation half price charity rate, before the end of the first month, and without penalty?

    The organization is a CRA registered charity.
