Migrate Sage 50 to Sage Accounting (CAB to SAI)

SUGGESTED

Is there a support email for sage if we are using Sage Accounting? Or are we stuck using the forums?

I've purchased Sage Accounting / Cloud, but the migration tool is not compatible with CAB files.

I have emailed '[email protected]' but received no response on the issue. I've been hung up on by support twice...

We are paying for Quantum, but do not need any of the additional services Quantum offers. We are just a two person show here, and really just need to migrate our existing data into Sage Accounting so we can get back to running the business... but it seems impossible to get going.

Do we have to rebuild our entire database and chart of accounts from scratch here?

    Hi  ,

Thank you for reaching out. To better assist you, could you please specify which version of Sage 50 you're migrating data from? Here's an article guide on how to migrate your Sage 50 data to Sage Accounting. Some tips include:

    1. Support for Sage Accounting: The Help and Chat options are available when logged into Sage Accounting for more immediate assistance.

    2. Migration Tool Compatibility : The migration tool is designed to transfer data from recent versions of Sage 50 to Sage Accounting PLUS, including customer/vendor records, Chart of Accounts, and other transactions. However, it does not support CAB files. Your data should be from a 2024/2023 supported version of Sage 50 and your account  need to have an active service plan for both software products to enable the connection.

    3. Migration Process: If you're in Canada and subscribed to Sage Accounting PLUS, you can migrate your data using our tool. You can export lists as .CSV files and import them into Sage Accounting. The connection wizard in Sage 50cloud can also be used to transfer list information.

    4. Data Conversion: For data files from Simply Accounting 2008 to Sage 50 2013, you can directly convert them to Sage 50 2023. Data from Simply Accounting 2007 or earlier needs pre-converting to Sage 50 2014/2015 before upgrading.

    5. Building Database: If your data is not compatible with the migration tool, there might be a need to manually rebuild your database and chart of accounts in Sage Accounting.

Please note that migration and conversion of older formatted Sage 50 data are not included in your Sage Support plan and may require the assistance of Sage Expert Services, which is a fee-based service. For direct support, you can email '[email protected]' for Sage Expert Data Services.

If you need further assistance or have more specific queries, don't hesitate to reach out to us.

    Warm Regards,
    Erzsi

I have the migration tool, but it will not accept CAB files, which is why I am wondering how we can convert my CAB into a compatible SAI file that the migration tool accepts. These are all current files with the newest software, but we do not require the features of Quantum, as we are a small company, and need to move to the online accounting because my bookkeeper is moving, so we need to move to cloud-based so she can work from a distance.

The migration tool for moving data from Sage 50 Canada to Sage Accounting does not support compressed CAB files. You need to locate and use the .SAI file, which is the Sage 50 Company File. To extract the necessary .SAI file from a CAB file, you can use file extraction software. Once you have the .SAI file, you can proceed with the migration tool to import your data. Make sure you are using a recent version of Sage 50 and have an active subscription to Sage Accounting for the migration tool to function. For detailed guidance, refer to the official migration guide provided by Sage.
