GST Collected

SUGGESTED

Hello,

I have an account set up to record GST collected on revenue. I noticed that GST is in fact being recorded on transactions, but is not being recorded to the GST account I had set up. The problem is that I'm not sure where Sage Cloud has recorded the GST as it does not show in an account in the General Ledger. Where would i find a break down or some kind of report to see all GST collected? and if it is not being recorded the an account, where is it being recorded?

    Hi  ,

Thank you for reaching out. If you've set up an account for GST collected on revenue, but you're not seeing it reflected in the General Ledger as expected, here are some steps to resolve this.

First, let's ensure that your tax settings are correctly configured. Based on the article "I Do Not Have the Option to Generate a Tax Return," it's crucial to have your Tax Return Frequency set up under Sales Tax Settings. This could affect how GST is recorded and displayed:

    1. Go to Settings.
    2. Click on Business Settings, then Sales Tax Settings.
    3. Here, ensure you have a return frequency set for provinces where you collect sales tax.

After verifying your tax settings, you should be able to generate tax returns, which might help in identifying how GST is recorded in your accounts.

Additionally, if you need to see a detailed list of transactions associated with your tax account, you can export a detailed report by following these steps:

    1. Navigate to Reporting > Tax Returns.
    2. Click on the relevant tax return.
    3. Use the Export menu to select a Detailed Report in CSV or PDF format.

This report will provide a comprehensive breakdown of all transactions, including GST collected, which may help pinpoint where the amounts are being posted if not in the General Ledger.

If after these steps you still can't locate the GST amounts, or if there's any discrepancy, it might be helpful to review the setup of your GST accounts, ensuring they are linked to the appropriate ledger accounts.
