Issues Migrating data from Sage 50

SUGGESTED

Hi There,

I am trying to migrate my company data from Sage 50 Desktop to Sage Business Accounting Online. I have followed all the steps and used the migration tool, however during this step I ran into some errors that need to be corrected before completing the migration. Most of the warnings and errors are nothing major but I have this one error that I can't figure out. The GST set up for meals and entertainment works in Sage 50 but the error I received during the migration is the following:

Tax Code M (GST 2.5% Included, GST 2 @ 2.5% non-refundable) with GST2 (GST/HST) is set to non-refundable. Sage Business Cloud
Accounting does not support this tax setting.

How can I correct these errors? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

    Hi  ,

Thanks for reaching out. It seems like you've encountered a specific issue related to tax code settings during your migration .

Please see this article, as the error you're seeing is because Sage Accounting does not support the non-refundable tax setting that's being used in Sage 50 for the GST setup for meals and entertainment.

To address this, you can modify your tax settings within Sage 50 to be compatible with Sage Accounting before migration. This might involve setting up a new tax code that is supported by Sage Business Cloud Accounting. As outlined in the migration guide, ensure you are subscribed to Sage Accounting Plus, as this is necessary for the migration in Canada.

If you have not done so already, please visit our Migration Page for detailed steps and consult the Migration Guide article. These resources will guide you through preparing your data for migration and using the migration tool effectively.

Keep in mind that while customer and vendor records, transactions, and account balances can be migrated, historical data cannot be imported and must be transferred manually.

For any further assistance or if you encounter additional issues, please don't hesitate to reach out to our support team or consult the "Differences between Accounting Start, Accounting Standard, and Accounting Plus" for more detailed guidance on the features available to you.

    Warm Regards,
    Erzsi
