What role has networking played in your entrepreneurial journey, and how do you build meaningful connections in your industry?

Networking in business can be advantageous in numerous ways. Firstly, it allows entrepreneurs to expand their circle of contacts, creating valuable connections with other professionals in their industry.

These connections can lead to potential partnerships, collaborations, or even new business opportunities. Additionally, networking provides a platform for sharing knowledge, ideas, and best practices, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the business community.

  • I have had a largely negative experience with networking in the past so I don't do any at all now.  The events that I went to seemed to be just a room full of people all trying to sell to each other!  There didn't seem to be any collaborating or mutual promotion, just a lot of hard sell.  Perhaps I went to the wrong events but I felt like a wasted a lot of time that I could have been fee earning, so I don't attend now.

  • Networking has helped me with a few ideas but I often find that many people do not share much about themselves or their businesses as they are ready to peach their products or services to you.  Some are interested if they think you are a potential client or customer.  I am now very selective about the networking events I attend.

  • Yes I agree ladies, it has to be the right environment.  I am part of a lovely network and it is a woman’s network where the main priority is building relationships and mutual support, not about selling your services.

  • Hi Lesa We're wondering if you would be available for a 30-minute virtual meeting to provide feedback by answering some questions. In return you will receive a £25 Amazon Voucher. Thanks

  • I'm all about making real connections and bringing something valuable to the table. For me, it's not about swapping business cards; it's about building relationships that actually mean something. Whether it's mingling at events, engaging on social media, or tapping into mutual connections, those genuine connections often turn into awesome partnerships and nuggets of invaluable advice.
