Have you heard about our latest call to the UK government? We are urging the government to seize the opportunity for the UK to become an advanced digital economy and tackle flatlining productivity.

In May 2023 we put forward policy proposals to prevent the UK from falling behind other hi-tech nations and to stimulate investment in innovation and automation.

Our proposed "Digital Blueprint" emphasises the importance of technology, like AI, for Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) to boost growth, productivity, foster innovation, and act against climate change.

To overcome financial barriers, we suggest the establishment of a time-limited small business "Digital Growth Fund," offering tax reliefs on productivity software investment. We reference Australia's "Small Business Technology Investment Boost" and call on the UK government to introduce a similar scheme.

Sage presents the "Blueprint for Digital-Led Growth," which outlines numerous opportunities for the Government to enhance revenue, productivity, innovation, and green growth. By aiding SMBs, which account for 99.9% of all companies, in embracing the digital era, we estimate an additional £232 billion could be unlocked.

To secure the UK’s competitiveness in the global market after Brexit, and to drive productivity and achieve net zero goals, it is imperative that British businesses receive government support.

What are your thoughts? Do you think the UK government should take steps to support SMBs in their digital growth and boost the overall economy? Leave us a comment below.
