Sage 200 2013 (Release 1) the forgot child

Does anyone else feel that sage have left release 1 behind and seems to be ignoring to fix any of the issues with the version?

We were updated to Release 1, 10 months ago by our sage partner when soon after we started to find problems, resolves for these issues was to update to sage 200 2013 release 2. We are entitled to upgrade as we pay for support, but not the consulting time needed to upgrade, but wait we have just paid to upgrade to release 1.

For sage to pay attention to our issues we have to investigate (which takes time) to prove it’s a system fault, then later be told “we know about this issue already and the resolve is”:

  • “use a hotfix out of date hotfix and give it a go”

  • “you need to update to release 2”

  • “not enough people have highlighted this issue”

Still months go by and issues are found and the routine of:

  • Investigation

  • waiting for a reply from our sage partner

  • escalate to sage

  • wait for a reply

  • “you need to upgrade no fix will be developed for release 1”

Brief overview of issues not being fixed are:

  • Speed of workspaces (system in general)

  • General stability of the system (form crashes)

  • Quantity reserve field not reducing back to 0

  • Combine filtering in workspace don’t work

  • If you type in a stock code to build then tab to the second line, then go back and amend the item previously typed in, when the build is completed the stock item you first typed in has been updated not the amended item

I know all systems are not perfect and there is always bugs but these issues are not being resolved in release 1 it either “deal with it” or “invest additional funds to upgrade and reintegrate 3rd party applications”.

  • Thank you for your Comments Daniel. I will make sure that these are passed over to the Sage 200 team. If you have any issues or ideas in the future for development of Sage 200, we have a specific area on this Community for Sage 200 ideas, here is the link if you would like to take a look.

  • Sounds like same old Sage.....we are always having problems with workspaces / system speed, but very little is every done about it and ideas are never forthcoming. I have heard promises that 2015 is going to be faster and more stable......fingers crossed. Just have to pay the 10 days consulting time to do the upgrade.
  • Hi Sam

  • Hi Daniel and Sam

I appreciate where you are coming from and that to resolve the issue you are going to need to upgrade to V2015. I can only say that you genuinely will find a lot of benefit by doing so. Sam - Sage have over delivered and there's a lot of exciting new work going on at Sage and they have some really good people working on these things. And as Jill says check out the ideas hub, which is buzzing with ideas. I know you're on there Sam already.

Workspaces are vastly better in v2015 and the stability is extremely good. A lot of 3rd party programs also had great difficulty working with 2013 release 1 and in fact you may find that you can't buy many such programs because those products were withdrawn from that version!

My advice would be to wait until the SP2 of v2015 as this is due any day now and will contain - I hope - top-voted ideas hub stuff!

    Regards

    John

(disclosure - I work for a Sage partner)
  • Hi John,

I do hope so. Now to find the £15k to get it upgraded and a month long window in our year.....
  • I agree with Sam the planning we did for Sage 200 2013 (Release 1) then to be told only a few months later you need to do it again, we have integrated additional services into our sage package now which means more ££ to reintegrate.
