Sage 200 Manufacturing - updating BOM from ***

If I complete a works order I can no longer update the BOM from that works order.

Status has to be issued, or part completed.

This seems an oversight and makes it very difficult to update manufacturing data when sage automatically completes the works orders when they reach the full requirement quantity.

Is there a setting that we have enabled that stops us form doing this?

    From a quick look on my system using Sage 200c Professional Summer 2019 I think there is potential here for a bug, or a lack of clarity in the F1 Help files:

    If I attempt to 'Update BOM' with a Completed Batch Works Order highlighted the resulting menu which appears does not show the BOM, in fact it only shows orders which are Allocated, Entered, Issued, Part Issued and Part Completed.

    Furthermore if I then try to close this window I can't, I seem to be in a perpetual loop with no way of closing it other than selecting one of the orders > then clicking OK which in theory is then going to update a BOM I don't wish to be updated.


    I don't have access to an older Sage 200 system right now to compare behaviour, it may be worth logging this with your Business Partner (or it you are a partner) with Sage technical support.

    You might already be aware but it looks like Sage have logged a known issue regarding this:

    The help files related to Updating BOMs from works orders suggest that it should be possible to use completed works orders but they are not available to select when using the form.

    Steps to replicate:
    1. Within Manufacturing demo data, click Create/Update BOM from a Works Order.
    2. Try to select a Completed Works Order.

    Observed behaviour:
    Only works orders with a status of Entered, Allocated or Issued appear in the list of works orders which can be used to update the BOM.

    Expected behaviour:
    The help files recommend that fully issued or completed works orders should be used to update BOMs.

    Workaround:
    No Workaround once a works order has been completed or closed.

    We logged the issue with our Support Partner and they say they have raised a report with Sage, this may be the report in question.
