The latest version of Sage 50c at the time of MTD coming into play will be compatible.  

If you are on a subscription with us, it will be likely that you are already eligible to be using Sage 50c, whether you use the cloud functionality or not.

For all non-subscription customers who may be using older versions, or not using Sage 50c, we will be offering an addon to purchase to make your software compatible.

It may be worth giving us a call on 0845 111 55 55 or coming through on Web Chat so that we can check your specific licence and advise what action you would need to take.

I have Sage 50 Accounts Plus and I'm running the v24.2. I don't have the 50c version.

Can someone please tell me what the add-on is. I have phoned the number and been told that after April I must change to the subscription Sage Cloud even though I only paid for an upgrade last year, otherwise I will not be able to file online

This means that we invest time in developing solutions which add great value to our customers rather than spending time updating older versions. If you're on subscription, you receive access to all of our latest updates. These updates enable you to update to version 24.2 of Sage 50cloud or above. Once on this version of Sage 50cloud you can benefit from the Sage 50cloud features, including the ability to submit your VAT return using the new MTD portal.

If you're not on subscription, your software will not have MTD functionality as standard, no matter what version you're using. If you can’t move to subscription we will offer the MTD submission module but this will be at an additional cost. The module will cost £25 per month or £300 annually for Sage 50 Standard, Plus and Pro.  The module will be provided on a subscription basis and will only be available to customers who have a valid cover contract.  It will be chargeable and the subscription will be in addition to your renewal price.

You are plainly profiteering. The current version 24 can be used to submit online. you are choosing to get rid of it and force everyone onto a subscription. you say it is cloud but it isn't it is the same as is at present - on a pc. So you will have another subscription for cloud. And another subscription for Microsoft 365. I work for me to improve my profits and not Sage or Microsoft. I use a book-keeper who is familiar with other options so i am voting with my feet and moving to Xero.

I agree with you Jackie - i just feel like it is another way for them to make yet more money out of us. The cost for us to move over to the cloud is 43% higher than current costs. How the hec they can justify that ?

Could you please confirm why the MTD module is only being made available to customers with a Sage Cover contract?  I've got Sage 50 Accounts Pro v24.2 (non cloud), which I havejust upgraded to for a not insignificant price.  I understand I'm going to need to purchase the MTD module at the quite frankly extortionate price of £300/yr but why am I being made to also purchase Sage cover?  

Why should I pay for Cloud that isn't Cloud. Surely the whole point of Cloud is that it can be accessed from other places. Why are you charging extra for something that is the same as I paid for only 12 months ago when I can move to Xero for £20 a month and get proper Cloud.

The MTD module will be provided on a subscription basis, therefore you’ll need a valid cover contract for your subscription to be ongoing.

As you’re already on Sage 50 Accounts v24.2, there may not be a charge to move to Sage 50cloud Accounts v24.2, it may just be a change on your licence. The best option for you when it comes to being MTD compliant may not be the same as it is for other Sage 50 / 50cloud Accounts users. Prices and options vary based on your current software and licence.
