Data Autofill Not Functioning Correctly

I'm using Sage 50 Accounts Essentials Version 24.2.228.0 with Microsoft Windows 10 Home and when entering data, the autofill function used to produce a list of previously used data entry options to click on to replicate previously used text.  This is no longer functioning correctly for me so I have to enter each entry manually.  However, when entering say 1200 suing my keyboard for Bank Current Account followed by the 'Enter' key, the data changes from 1200 to 12003.  The same happens when entering data into other data fields.  For example, when entering details for a Bank Payment, typing '&Q' will bring up the previously used text of 'B&Q Tradepoint' but when I hit the enter key it the data changes it to 'B&Qd'.  To remedy this I have to type out 'B&Q Tradepoint' in full each time then use my mouse to click on the Net/Amount field so that the correct data is entered.  It never used to do this, just seems to have started since I updated to V24.

Is anyone else suffering this annoying issue and can anyone offer advice on how I can get the autofill to function correctly, as it did before.  Any help would be greatly appreciated - thank you.

    Hi Tim,

Thanks for using our Product Support Community.

When you use drop-down lists in Sage Accounts, you can type the first few letters for a record to appear. This is known as the ActiveSearch popup.

There may be instances where this stops workingIf this happens check that ActiveSearch popup is turned on. If it is check that the relevant list is sorted by account reference or code.

To check that ActiveSearch popup is turned on go into:

    1. Settings > Company Preferences > Parameters.
    2. In the Others section, ensure that the ActiveSearch popup check box is selected.

To check that the list is sorted by account reference or code:

If the list is sorted by any column other than the account reference or code, for example, if the Product List is sorted by the product name, then the ActiveSearch popup does not work.

To resolve this, open the required module and click the first column heading.

If the issue continues to occur, run Check Data in File > Maintenance to check for any error.

Hi Paul, Thank you so much for your advice. I have checked Settings>Company Preferences>Parameters and the ActiveSearch popup check box already has a tick in it. I have also run Check Data In File>Maintenance and no errors are reported. When entering e.g. Bank Payments and typing data, the list of remembered payees is visible but when I hit 'Enter' to accept the offered selection it changes to just a few characters. For example, when I type in 'B&Q' it offers me 'B&Q Tradepoint' but when I hit the 'Enter' key it changes the selection to just 'B0'. The only way I can get it to work is by typing in 'B&Q Tradepoint' in full then clicking my mouse on the NEXT input field and the full selection of 'B&Q Tradepoint' then appears where I want it. I have made no changes to any of my settings - it just started doing it after updating my software to the latest version. It's very frustrating and very time consuming too. I used to be able to use the 'Tab' key to jump to the next data input field instead of using the 'Enter' key but that function no longer works either. I'm stumped! Any other ideas or suggestions would be very welcome.

Sorry Paul, I forgot to add - when I remove the tick from the ActiveSearch popup check box and input data, it obviously doesn't offer me the remembered payees but when I type in 'B&Q Tradepoint' it accepts the data and using the 'Tab' key works again allowing me to move to the next data input field. Very odd indeed.
