Excel import in Sage 50

It is possible to import journal entries into Sage using the provided Excel template, or indeed any other template file providing we map it correctly, but such journals are brought into Sage as individual transactions (or at least appear to be so) rather than the composite (which is probably the wrong description from a technical point  of view, but will suffice for the layman who is writing this) entry, which it would be if the journal entry had been set up manually in Sage 50.

It would be helpful if the import tool asked whether transaction should be treated as a single composite transaction, or we had a mechanism to identify on the spreadsheet used to create the entries, items which should be treated together as composite items, distinguished from items which should be treated individually.

    Hi David,

Thanks for using our Product Support Community.

You can import journals into Sage 50 Accounts using the Audit Trail Transaction FULL template. You can find this and the other existing import templates in Help > About > click the Program Directory path > open the Import Templates folder.

Sage 50 Accounts doesn’t currently check for corresponding journal entries but I appreciate that this would be a handy feature of the Import Wizard. You can log this and any other suggestions that you have to improve our Sage 50 Accounts software on our Ideas Community.

To log your idea select SAGE 50CLOUD ACCOUNTING and then New.

Once logged, we’ll be able to use your idea and help us to shape your Sage software. Other customers will also be able to vote on your idea.

Thank you. I had thought I was in the right place having entered the new item page from communities.sage.co.uk/.../ "Which product would you like to submit an idea for?"

I have now used the ideas tab and hope that the logs are in the right place.

    Kind regards
