Sage 50 24.1 update will not load

SUGGESTED

Hi, I am running 24.0.68.0 and I need to update to 24.2. I have tried running the updates within Sage and it says there are 2 updates 24.1 and 24.2.

Whichever one I try to run, or if I try to run the downloads direct, the setup programme starts, asks me if I want to continue and then on clicking yes, it shuts down. No error message, no nothing they just disappear.

I have checked the taskmanager and they are not running in the background. I have checked the %temp% file and no individual packages have been copied there.

I have checked the Microsoft.net and repaired 4.6 and then installed 4.7. Nothing seems to have any effect, the updates will not run.

I do not have antivirus other than Windows defender, which is up to date.

Can anyone help please. Thank you.

    Hi Adam,

As per my original message, I have tried this but there are no Sage files in the temp folder.

The install programme did not even get that far to create the files.

There is a Sage Accounts/Packages folder but these contain the original msi files from 2017.

Can you email me the new msi files or can I download them a different way?

    Regards,

    SOLVED!!!

Just to let you all know, after hours of trying to solve my v24 update problem, I have managed to sort it out with an old trick I remember from older versions.

In the Accounts/Company folder [C:\ProgramData\Sage\Accounts\2018\Company.000] there is a file called "watermark.xml". Just delete this and the programme works okay even without the update.

    Hi Peter,

You don't need to install 24.1, you can just install v24.2 as it incorporates all updates required. If you go to www.sage.co.uk/au and manually download v24.2 then install that.

If you attempt to install and have issues, then find there are no installation files unpacked into the temp folder then I would advise to log onto the PC as the windows administrator and try installing the V24.2 update .

    Hi Dan,

I had already tried v24.2 with the same problem. I therefore thought that I needed to update to v24.1 first but did not make any difference.

So for the moment my Sage is working but it is stuck on v24.0.68.0 even though the data is v24.2.

I am always logged on as the administrator, which I checked. Since I cannot run the update, it is not creating the individual msi files in the Packages directory.... SO IT WILL NOT UPDATE BECAUSE THERE ARE NO MSI FILES!!!

Can someone please email me the 4 individual msi files. Thank you.
