Cleaning up the Product file

SOLVED

Our business has been trading for a few years and the product file needs tidying up. There are lots of duplicates, errors, products that we no longer sell etc. etc.

It would seem to me that the easiest way to do this would be to export the product list, tidy it up in excel, and then import it back in?

We also want to add a few categories at the same time. I understand that products can be deleted as long as the stock levels is zero, and if not, they can be adjusted to be so using Clear stock option.

Is this the best way or is there a better way of doing this?

    Hi Andrew,

Sometimes you may want to delete old or unused Product Records from the Products module. This reduces the size of your data files and backups and improves the speed at which you can locate products within Sage Accounts. However, it‘s not possible to delete Product Records that have related stock levels.

You can find full info on how to delete product records from Sage 50 Accounts here.
