Client - server backup warnings

SUGGESTED

We have a setup whereby we have a Data service installed on a server (lets call it server A) and the UI used on another server (lets call it server B).

The UI works fine, and server A performs a nightly data check and backup without issue.

However whenever we close down Sage 50 accounts (v23) on server B it warns the user that no backup has been taken. Is there a way to disable this warning as the backups are actually scheduled and working correctly on server A.

Thanks

Data service installed as per instructions here: my.sage.co.uk/.../askarticle.aspx

    Hi Simon.

Even though the automatic backup option is set up and running correctly, there isn't a way to disable this backup message.

It is vital that customer data is always backed up and saved so that if anything ever happened, you have something to restore back to.

However, you can log this as a suggestion to improve our Sage Accounts software on our Ideas Community: communities.sage.co.uk/.../

To log your idea select Sage 50 Accounts and then Submit an idea.

Once logged, we’ll be able to use your idea and help us to shape your Sage software. Other customers will also be able to vote on your idea.

    Sean, Hi

Thanks for your reply. Whilst i understand you point, and your absolutely correct about backups, surely this issue will affect anyone with this setup. My understanding is that this setup is not advised against, because of the instructions on how to do so.

I'm sure you can understand that this warning not only adds time to the user journey, but also adds a significant amount of worry to the users that their data is at risk.

Is there anything we can do in the short term (until a change is released) to either prevent this message from appearing or informing sage that a backup has actually been completed?

    Hi Simon.

You're correct, other users would face this same message.

I understand the points you make and what you're wanting to achieve. However, at this point there isn't a way to disable this backup message.

I couldn't say whether this would actually be changed in future but if you do submit your feedback to us, our development team will look in to it.
