Sage Instant program closing each time I click save?

SUGGESTED

I've been using Sage Instant Accounts for the last year or so. Today after entering some invoices and clicking save the whole program completely closed down without warning. After logging back in I can see that the invoices were saved but did not appear in Corrections until I searched for them at the top. Sage now shuts down every time I click save when trying to put an invoice on or when trying to pay an invoice. The payment saves but again I have to search for it in Corrections for it to show up there.

When I load Sage again it says the program was not properly shut down and that it will run a check on the files. This check comes back saying there are no errors and no warnings.

Has anyone experienced this before?

    Hi Laura,

To enable me to investigate and resolve this for you, could you please answer the following:

    1. If you go into File > Maintenance > Check Data, are there any errors reported or any warnings similar to ‘Total net / tax different…’?
    2. If you go into File > Open > Open Demo Data > enter the username Manager with no password > the demonstration company will open. Are you able save invoices without the software closing, or does the same happen in this company too?
    3. When you into your live company's data, what is the username you log in with, e.g. Laura, etc?
    4. What is your full version number showing as in the Program Details section of Help > About?

    Hi Paul,

Thank you for your quick reply.

    1. No errors or warnings are reported at all.
    2. I'm able to save the invoice and the payment without the software closing.
    3. I don't use a username i just login with the password when first opening the software.
    4. 20.04.09.364

    Best regards,

    Great, thanks Laura.

In Sage Accounts, go into Settings > Company Preferences > Parameters tab > select the Access Rights check box > OK.

Once done, go into Settings > Access Rights > New > enter the User name Test > leave the password blank > select Full Access > OK.

If you then go into File > Log Off > log in as Test. Are you now able to save invoices with the software closing or does the problem still occur?

    Great, thanks Laura.

As the Test username works, this indicates that the problem is with the Manager username. To resolve this, first take a backup of your data in File > Backup.

Once done, go into Help > About > make a note of the Data Directory path, then close Sage 50 Accounts completely.

Then browse to the Company.00* folder of your Data Directory path. Open the CRITERIA folder and delete any files that start with MANAGER.

Once done, go back into the Company.00* folder of your data directory path, then open the ACCDATA folder. Again, delete any files that start with MANAGER.

You can log back into Sage 50 Accounts as Manager and you'll be able to save invoices without the software crashing.

You can also delete the Test login from Settings > Access Rights if you like.

Done this, all seems to be fine although it doesn't allow me to delete the Test login only edit it. That shouldn't be a problem though.

    Thank you

You need to be logged in as Manager to delete the Test username from Settings > Access Rights. However, you can leave this username in the data if you like.
