We use sage drive with sage accounts 50,  but since the recent sage update, every time I try and download the latest update to sage drive, it lets me get all the way through and then tells me I have no internet connection, which is not the case. Has anyone else experienced this problem, it is driving me potty?!

Thanks

  • Hi Deborah,

There is an issue we’re aware of where, when opening File > Set up Sage Drive > Sign in, the message 'No Internet connection' appears.

For Sage Drive to work smoothly a stable internet connection is required. Please make sure your internet connection at all sites meet the following recommended requirements:

    • Recommended download speed: 4Mbps or higher
    • Recommended upload speed: 2Mbps or higher

You can check the speed of your internet connection at various sites online, such as www.speedtest.net

If your internet connection at all sites meets these recommended requirements and you’re still experiencing problems, you can refer to Ask Sage article 33146 for full info to resolve this.

  • Hi Camilla,

If the main site has logged out and turned off their computer, it's ok to continue posting on the remote sites. The message is just letting you no it isn't turned on, once the main site is turned back on the sage drive data will sync with the live data. I would recommend to take  regular backups of the data on the remote site, if you tun off the main site, just as a safeguard.

    Thanks

    Dan

  • Hi Tony,

Thanks for using our Product Support Community.

Yes this is correct. You need to be using the same version of Sage 50 Accounts as your client, to access their data via Sage Drive.

  • Hi Carrie,

Thanks for using our Product Support Community.

Sage 50 / 50c Accounts, including Sage Drive, isn't compatible with Apple Macs and with the Mac OS X operating system, as it’s designed for Microsoft Windows operating systems. Therefore you can't install your Sage 50/ 50c Accounts directly onto a Mac Book Pro operating system.

However, it is possible to install a Microsoft Windows operating system via Apple's Boot Camp utility, which you can then install Sage 50 Accounts onto. Info on this here.

You can find full details on running Sage software on an Apple Mac with Boot Camp here.

  • Hi Denise,

Thanks for using our Product Support Community.

No, it’s not a problem to submit your VAT returns when using Sage 50 Accounts on Sage Drive.

  • Hi John,

Thanks for using our Product Support Community.

Yes it will. Sage Drive can still access your data when the machine that holds the data has been turned off. This is because the connection to the data has already been established via Sage Drive.

  • Hi Rachael,

Thanks for using our Product Support Community.

It’s not currently possible to have a read-only company in Sage 50 Account, either on Sage Drive or the local network data.

However, you can log this as a suggestion to improve our Sage 50 Accounts software on our Ideas Community.

To log your idea select SAGE 50CLOUD ACCOUNTING and then New.

Once logged, we’ll be able to use your idea and help us to shape your Sage software. Other customers will also be able to vote on your idea.

  • Hi Selwyn,

Thanks for using our Product Support Community.

To change your Main Site for Sage Drive you need to remove the company from Sage Drive and upload the data again from the new Main Site.

To do this you need to contact our Support team on 0845 111 5555 as they need to access your machine to do this for you.

  • Hi Arthur,

Thanks for using our Product Support Community.

This message appears when another user is working in an exclusive program area in Sage Accounts. Alternatively, it can be caused by Sage Accounts not closing correctly, for example the software crashing.

    To resolve this:

If other users are logged in:

Log all users out of Sage Accounts on all computers including all Sage Drive remote users, then try and access the required option again.

If you can log on as MANAGER:

    1. Log on as MANAGER.
    2. On the menu bar click View, then click User List.
    3. Select a user except for MANAGER, then click Remove then click Yes.
    4. Repeat step 4 until MANAGER is the only on the list, then click Close. If you remove users, we recommend that you run a check data. If any errors are reported, please refer to My data.
    5. Try and access the required option again.

If you can't log on as MANAGER:

    1. Log on using the username mentioned in the error message.
    2. When prompted, click Close session or Yes, then close out of Sage Accounts.
    3. Now log on and try and access the required option again.
    4. If you receive the error message for a different username, repeat steps 1-3 until you get access.

It's likely that you've received this message because Sage Accounts has previously closed unexpectedly. We recommend that you run a check data, if any errors are reported, please refer to My data.

If the issue persists you can refer to Ask Sage article 36253 to delete the Queue.dta file.

  • Thanks Paul
Eventually found a different solution after searching different many words in Help.
Found article 36329 "You cannot access (program area) because (username) is logged in on machine (computer name)' when working in Sage Accounts" that led me to article 36253 "How to delete the queue.dta file".
I deleted the queue.dta file and that seems to have worked.
    Kind regards
    Arthur
