Problem Sage 50 looking to contact Sage Drive although not using Sage Drive..?

Hi, hoping support can help on this

When opening Sage 50, it prompts with a window "Sage Drive - Processing, please wait"

I have done few items Sage Support advised last week, restart services/flush DNS/clear out old .S50 files etc. which solves it temporarily then its back again within a day or two.

From what I have read online and from speaking with Sage support,
This is linked to the Automatic Scheduled backup server (both Sage Drive and Backup use the same service)

This morning, I tried to log into Sage 50, after getting the above window twice then I got a message window below:

But the automatic backup is not schedule to run until 21:00 each night

I notice Sage is automatically creating/updating a folder in C:\Windows\Temp\ with a copy of the Sage Company directory constantly with Time-Date as name of folder.?????

Can Support advise what might be going on here?

Thanks,
Paul

  • Hi Paul,

There is an issue we’re aware of where, in Sage Accounts when opening a company, the uploading data progress bar scrolls in a continuous loop. This can happen whether you have Sage Drive set up or not.

There are a number of different reasons why this can occur. Full info on how to check and resolve this here.

  • Hi Paul,

    Thanks for the detailed reply,
I had gone through most of those steps already - but due to the busy environment it has not been possible to uninstall/re-install or re-add the companies

The version is v21.5.9.201, and I can confirm below are the only two sage items installed on the server
    - Sage 50 Accounts 2015
    - SageSDataServerInstall

On one of the steps on Article 33080 it states deleting the SQLite files, this has been done on a number of occasions by Sage support but they appear to be recreated as soon as the services are restarted and the problem re-occurs again withing a few days.
Which suggest it is possibly still trying to connect or do something with Sage Drive?

Is this something that needs to be carried out on each client workstation aswell as the server that stores the data?

The next step, i'm guessing is to try disabling the Sage Auto/Schedule backup to see if this has any impact on the Sage Drive area....

    Thanks,
    Paul
  • Hi Paul,

You may need to wait until a quiet period before you remove and re-add the company, however this is a step that needs to be carried out in this instance, to refresh connection.

Deleting the Sg50Svc.sqlite3 files only needs to be carried out on the computer where your data is held. These files should also only be deleted if you’re not using Sage Drive. Please ensure you’re logged in as a user with administrator rights when deleting these files.

Yes you could try disabling the scheduled backup function to see the impact this may have on Sage Drive.

  • Hi Paul,

Just a quick update on this:

It appears it was the Sage Automatic Scheduled backup that was causing all the various issues & messages (waiting for *....dta & Sage Drive message etc.)
Sage Drive was not enabled or configured.

As I mentioned in one of my posts above, it looks like the main Sage/Backup/Drive service "sg50svc.exe" was constantly copying the Sage company folder to c:\windows\temp
which was occurring every 1 minute due to the automatic backup being enabled (not once a night when it was scheduled for)

Once disabled, files cleared, services restarted, Sage Backup disabled - all appears to be working fine.

    Regards,

    Paul

  • Thanks for the update Paul, I’m pleased your Sage 50 Accounts software is now working fine.
