Hi Iliane,
You can reverse the sales receipt (SR) transaction with a sales payment (SP) transaction.
To refund the SR you must post a customer refund. The customer refund remains outstanding until you receive a new payment for the invoice.
To reverse the sales receipt with a customer refund:
BANK A/C REF - Choose the required customer
PAYEE* - Choose the required bank
TAX CODE – Standard VAT use T9 / VAT Cash Accounting use the same tax code as the original sales receipt.
DATE* - Enter the date of the refund
AMOUNT - Enter the amount you are refunding
*This information is mandatory.
You can now post the new cheque against the outstanding SP and then reconcile both the new SR and the SP in your bank reconciliation. These two transactions will cancel each other out in your bank reconciliation, meaning the net balance of these is £0.00
