Multiple Financial year

Can I start a new financial year while the previous years data remains editable i.e. not closed?

If so how?

Thank you.

  • Hi Christopher,

As Sage Accounts is runs open financial periods, you can post transactions into your new financial year, before you close off you previous financial year. You can also edit and post transactions in your previous financial year too, before you close it off.

If you receive the message ‘The date you have entered is beyond the end date of your current financial yearâ€Tm, this happens if you have passed your financial year end date but not yet run the Year End option. If this is the case, and you want to process beyond the current financial year, click Yes.

If you don't want this message to appear each time you enter transactions dated in the next financial year, select the Pause this message for financial year check box then click OK.

You can switch this setting on or off at any time, to do this go into Settings > Company Preferences > Parameters tab > select or clear the Pause outside Financial Year message check box as required > OK.

  • Hello Paul

Thanks, message beyond year end date forced me to step back. I know its generally not advisable to proceed if such message appear particularly if you don't understand the implications.

    Have a magnificent day.

    Best regards
