The operating system is not configured to run this application

Sage Instant Accounts v21

Email an invoice and error message reads 'The operating system is not configured to run this application.' Under settings>Email Defaults configured for Outlook 2016 (desktop) - OS Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise.   Sage help>About> Information Collated report can be read from One Drive https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=37C4C8CDDBF4FC4E!57839&authkey=!AAkvxJVH0LWfIhc&ithint=file%2cpdf

It really would be nice to just use the software rather than spend time fixing bugs or finding work around. Very frustrated user so far.

  • Hi Christopher. Sorry to hear you're having a frustrating time getting up and running with your Accounts.

I'm wondering if the issues you're having are related to Outlook 2016? You might find this article useful - my.sage.co.uk/.../askarticle.aspx as it provides information on how to get around by using SMTP settings.

If a fellow community user doesn't jump in to offer more guidance, I'll make sure to get one of our Sage experts on the topic to offer assistance on Monday morning.

    Thanks.

    Michael

  • Thank you for taking the time to reach out and answer the question. I really appreciate you doing so.

Yes, Office 365 (desktop version - full Office 2016 Pro Plus). I did read on one of Sages support pages the desktop version of Office 365 is supported.

SMTP infers MS Exchange isn't supported. I do have email addresses that use SMTP but using one of these addresses might cause customer confusion, as most customers, will be looking for custom domain name.

Personally, I would automatically delete an email, from a business with an attached invoice or as part of email text, not using a custom domain for example gmail, live mail etc. but an email with invoice using the business domain name I know and I'm expecting an invoice from, I will look at.

Irritating position to be in as this technology isn't new. I suppose I will have to await confirmation as to my understanding regarding this issue.

    Have a fabulous weekend.
