My next VAT Return will be for the q/e 28/2/19.  The article at ask.sage.co.uk/.../std_adp.php is about VAT settings in Sage Accounts.  It refers to a check box to "Enable making tax digital for VAT submissions" and it says "If you're using Sage 50cloud Accounts, before your first submission under Making Tax Digital you must select this check box".  I cannot see the check box in Settings > Company Preferences > VAT tab.  Two questions.....

1.  Where is that check box?

2.  When I find it, should I tick it now when I still have a VAT Return to do under the present pre-MTD regime or should I wait until after I have done my last VAT Return under the pre-MTD present regime?

    Thanks for using Sage City.

    1. If you go into Help > About, what is: 

      1. The Version Number showing as in the Program Details section?
      2. The Variant showing as under the Licence Information section?

    When you log into Sage 50 Accounts software, what is the username you use, e.g. Richard, etc? 

    2. Don’t select the Enable Making Tax Digital for VAT submissions check box until before your first submission under Making Tax Digital (MTD). If you still have a VAT return to submit before MTD, don’t select this check box yet.

    Hi Paul,

    1a.  The Version Number is 25.0.76.0

    1b.  The Variant is Sage 50 Accounts Essentials

    1c.  The Logon Name I use is manager.  Is that the same as the Username that you ask for?  I am not asked specifically for a Username when I start Sage 50.  I just type in the Logon Name and my Password.

    Great, thanks Richard.

    Your version number and username are both correct, the only reason you can’t see the Enable Making Tax Digital for VAT submissions check box is because you’re still using Sage 50 Accounts Essentials instead of Sage 50cloud Accounts Essentials.

    To switch your licence to Sage 50cloud Accounts Essentials, enter the correct Serial Number and Activation Key into your software in Tools > Activation > Upgrade Program.
