There are no transactions on the audit trail

I have a problem with Sage after reinstalling the data service on a server and client apps on PCs. Data has been restored from earlier backups. While I can see a full list of customers and suppliers, clicking Activity on any of them brings up an error: There are no transactions on the audit trail. If I go to the Activity tab within the company window it says Building activity but nothing happens.

I would be grateful for any tips on how to fix this issue. Thank you!
